Cockroaches are being turned into cyborg spies in Germany<\/h2>\n

Berlin-based start-up SWARM Biotactics<\/span><\/span><\/strong> is developing a technology to turn Madagascar cockroaches into cyborg scouts. The insects are equipped with microelectronic \u00abbackpacks\u00bb with cameras, microphones and even Doppler radar to work in environments where people or drones cannot reach.<\/p>\n

How the technology works<\/h3>\n

The control is carried out through electrodes connected to the cockroaches' antennae. They stimulate the insects' natural navigational responses, allowing the operator to direct their movement or to start autonomous swarming.<\/p>\n

    The developers note that cockroaches are hardy, inconspicuous and extremely mobile. They are able to survive in conditions of heat, high radiation and lack of oxygen, which makes them suitable for complex and dangerous environments.<\/p>\n

    The project is already being tested together with Bundeswehr<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. For now, we are talking exclusively about reconnaissance and search missions<\/strong>, without combat functions.
