According to the US Department of Justice, he is accused of drug smuggling<\/strong>, illegal importation of cocaine into the United States<\/strong>, and in arms trade<\/strong>, including automatic and destructive devices.<\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors believe that Maduro has been a key figure in an international criminal network for years that has been<\/p>\n

    If found guilty, he faces life imprisonment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    The case was the culmination of a long-running investigation by US intelligence agencies into the Venezuelan leadership. Earlier, the US officially accused the Maduro regime of narcoterrorism<\/strong> and undermining international security.<\/p>\n
