Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov<\/span><\/span><\/strong> said that potential US security guarantees for Ukraine, in his opinion, would not be able to ensure \u00ablasting peace\u00bb. He said this during a public commentary for the media.<\/p>\n According to Lavrov, he has no information about any security guarantees already agreed between the US and Ukraine. At the same time, he questioned the very idea of the effectiveness of such agreements.<\/p>\n In his statement, he used the phrase \u00abpreservation of the Ukrainian regime\u00bb, which is in line with the traditional rhetoric of the Russian side towards the Ukrainian authorities.<\/p>\n The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine is regularly discussed in bilateral and multilateral contacts with Western partners, including the United States. They discuss possible models of long-term military and security support.<\/p>\n As of now, there is no officially agreed and published final package of guarantees.<\/p>\n Western countries see security guarantees as a tool to deter further aggression and stabilise the situation.
