Bulgaria, Greece and Romania agree to co-finance North-South railway line<\/h2>\n

A meeting of high-ranking representatives of the Bulgaria<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, Greece<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and Romania<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, as well as European Commission<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. The parties discussed coordination of actions within the framework of the development of the North-South transport corridor.<\/p>\n

Details of the agreements<\/h3>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of Bulgaria Grozdan Karadzhov<\/span><\/span><\/strong> announced plans to jointly apply to the EU for funding for the construction of a high-speed railway line that will run through Athens<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, Thessaloniki<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, Sofia<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and Bucharest<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Minister of Transport of Greece Konstantinos Kiranakis<\/span><\/span><\/strong> noted that by 2027 it is planned to provide a high-quality passenger railway connection between Thessaloniki and Sofia.<\/p>\n

Joint coordination<\/h3>\n

The three countries agreed to work in full synchronisation during the planning and implementation stages of infrastructure projects to avoid delays and bureaucratic obstacles along the North-South corridor.<\/p>\n

Bulgaria's priorities<\/h3>\n

Among Bulgaria's key objectives is to accelerate the project to build a new bridge across the Danube between Russ<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and Gurgevo<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, and the resumption of ferry services on the Danube.<\/p>\n
