SBU and NABU expose MP on scheme with NAAS land worth UAH 30 million<\/h2>\n

Employees Security Service of Ukraine<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine<\/span><\/span><\/strong> exposed an incumbent MP on organising a scheme for misappropriation of property National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine<\/span><\/span><\/strong> in the amount of about UAH 30 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the 2021-2023<\/strong> the land controlled by the defendant was used for growing grain crops, which were subsequently illegally sold in bulk through affiliated companies<\/strong>. The total volume of such products exceeded 2.5 thousand tonnes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How the scheme worked<\/h2>\n

According to the law enforcement, there were people involved in the fraud:<\/p>\n

    Member of the Kyiv Regional Council;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    two heads of state-owned enterprises of the National Academy of Sciences;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    trustee of a Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Suspicions and possible punishment<\/h2>\n

    The MP and four other participants were notified of suspicion under the article on misappropriation of property on an especially large scale committed by an organised group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    In August 2023, the same MP was detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe of $85,000<\/strong> for the promise to transfer the land to the National Academy of Sciences for use.<\/p>\n

    According to open sources, it is likely to be the MP Anatoliya Gunko<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. Law enforcement officials have not publicly confirmed the identity of the suspect in the new proceedings.<\/p>\n
