EU loan of \u20ac90 billion to cover Ukraine's needs until 2027<\/h2>\n

Council of the European Union<\/strong> at a closed-door meeting in Brussels approved the key parameters of a large-scale loan package for Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros<\/strong>. This is stated in the official report of the institution.<\/p>\n

The loan programme is designed to ensure the financial stability of Ukraine over the 2026-2027<\/strong> and support the state in countering Russian aggression.<\/p>\n

How the funds will be distributed<\/h3>\n

According to the agreed details:<\/p>\n

  • \n

    \u20ac60 billion<\/strong> will be used for military aid to Ukraine;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    more \u20ac30 billion<\/strong> will be used for general budget support;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    interest on the loan<\/strong> will be covered by the EU budget, not by Ukraine;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    The weapons will be purchased mainly from Ukraine and the EU, but in case of urgent need, purchases from other countries may also be made;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    United Kingdom<\/strong> and some third countries will be able to contribute to the supply of weapons in exchange for financial participation in the programme.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The programme is attended by 24 out of 27 EU countries<\/strong>. Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic refused to support the decision.<\/p>\n

    Further procedure<\/h3>\n

    The final decision is to be made by European Parliament<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, The vote is expected in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

    After approval European Commission<\/span><\/span><\/strong> will start raising funds on the financial markets, and first tranche<\/strong> Ukraine can already receive at the beginning of April<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
