The extension of the validity of foreign passports has been cancelled
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that from 29 October 2025 the provision that allowed extend the validity of foreign passports during the period of martial law.
Now citizens of Ukraine must obtain a new passport, if the previous one was “extended” after its expiry date.

Travelling outside Ukraine only allowed with a valid biometric passport.
Ukrainians who are abroad can issue a new document at the consular offices of Ukraine.
Context.
During martial law, Ukrainians were allowed to extend their passports for 5 years due to difficulties with paperwork.
However, after the migration system has stabilised The MFA returns to the standard procedure for registration.
