Ukraine launches 112 app for emergency calls that works without mobile connection
In Ukraine, it is now available for download official emergency application 112, developed by The Ministry of Internal Affairs. The service is designed to call emergency services in critical situations, in particular where no mobile signal.
How the app works
In case of danger, the user makes a call through the app, and then the 112 operator independently assesses the situation and directs the necessary services:
rescuers,
police,
medical professionals,
gas service.
Before you start using it mandatory authorisation.
When 112 is especially useful
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that the app will be useful:
in shelters or basements, where there is Wi-Fi, but no mobile connection;
In areas with poor or unstable coverage;
during accidents or malfunctions of mobile networks.
Further development
The agency said that the functionality of the application will gradually expand. The next steps include the ability to call using sign language, to make the service accessible to people with hearing impairments.
Data protection
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasises that all personal data of users is protected. The application is responsible for state cybersecurity standards, and the information is used exclusively for handling emergency calls.
