
Ukraine is preparing for a difficult winter
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the government and energy companies are preparing to possible power outages due to regular Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
«Russia is trying to make this winter as difficult as possible for Ukrainians. We are strengthening the protection of energy facilities, creating generation reserves and preparing additional electricity supply schemes» Zelensky said.
According to the President, this year the enemy has changed its tactics: instead of massive shelling across the country, it is using a series of local strikes in the regions, to make it harder to restore the system.
Priority is to protect energy facilities
Zelensky stressed that energy protection is one of the main tasks of the government and the military.
To this end, the work of mobile air defence teams is being strengthened, additional surveillance systems are being installed, and international partners are being engaged to help with equipment.
«We cannot allow the situation of 2022-2023 to be repeated. Ukrainians must be sure that even under shelling there will be light, heat and water,» the President stressed.
Meeting with Trump in Washington
In addition, Zelenskyy confirmed that a meeting with Donald Trump is scheduled for Friday in Washington.
The main topics of the negotiations will be support for Ukraine, defence cooperation and energy security.
The meeting will take place after the summit in Washington, where the Ukrainian delegation will present an updated plan for air defence and energy recovery needs.
«We are committed to a constructive dialogue. It is important that the United States remains a key partner in our struggle for freedom,» Zelenskyy added.

According to the Ukrainian government, Russia has already damaged more than 60% for large energy facilities, which were repaired after last winter.
Power engineers warn that in case of new attacks scheduled power outages, especially in the central and eastern regions.
The country is actively deploying backup generation sources, In particular, mobile gas turbines and generators purchased with the support of the EU and the US.
