European leaders, together with Zelenskyy, are trying to rewrite the US «peace plan» by 27 November
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy together with the leaders of France, Germany and several other European countries are working to rewrite or significantly change the US «peace plan» before the deadline set by the US Thursday, 27 November.
This is reported by the Bloomberg citing knowledgeable sources familiar with the negotiations.
According to the newspaper, European capitals are trying to get the document amended to avoid the most controversial clauses and balance Kyiv's position. One of the tasks is also to reduce the political pressure exerted by US representatives on Ukraine to quickly adopt the agreement.
Bloomberg's sources note that France and Germany consider the current version of the plan too favourable to Russia, and therefore want to achieve adjustments that will make it acceptable both from the point of view of European security and Ukrainian interests.
The talks are taking place amid a tight diplomatic deadline and growing tensions between the allies.
