The President of Ukraine has begun a visit to the UK, with the first talks scheduled for today.
Details of the visit
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in London, where he was met at the airport by the Commander-in-Chief of the British Army of Ukrainian origin Valery Zaluzhny. The parties started the working part of the visit immediately upon arrival.
Zelenskyy is expected to hold a series of meetings with the UK leadership today. According to diplomatic sources, the main topics will include defence support for Ukraine in 2026, bilateral security guarantees, and coordination of further negotiations with the US and EU.
Context.
The visit comes amid an active diplomatic season: Ukraine is negotiating new air defence packages, artillery ammunition and joint defence programmes with NATO partners. Consultations are also underway on US peace proposals and the European Union's position.
