“We will not be at war for decades”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the words of the Polish Prime Minister, who said that the war in Ukraine could last for another two to three years. According to Zelenskyy, this term does not mean a forecast of the duration of the war, but reflects A European vision for the stability of financial support Ukraine.
«I told them that we will not fight for decades, but you have to show that you will be able to support Ukraine financially for a certain period of time. That's why they have this programme - 2-3 years. Let's accept that we will be steadily helping Ukraine for 2-3 years,» the President explained during a conversation with journalists.
The war may end sooner
Zelensky stressed that the war could end earlier, but Ukraine still needs funds for reconstruction. The source of funding, in his opinion, should be frozen assets of russia.
«If the war ends in a month, we will spend this money on reconstruction. If it lasts longer, we will spend it on weapons. There is no other way out,» the President said.
He added that the main thing is Europe has sent a signal to Moscow, The strategy of “exhausting Ukraine” will not work.
«For Putin, the worst thing is the decision on Russian assets. Because Europe has shown that there will be no financial exhaustion of Ukraine,“ Zelenskyy stressed.
