Ukraine is ready to meet in Budapest if invited

Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged that the place has a complex symbolism, but diplomacy requires flexibility

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Ukraine is ready to participate in a possible meeting in Budapest, if he receives an official invitation.
At the same time, the Head of State noted that Hungary's capital is not the best place for negotiations for «historical and political reasons».

«We are ready to meet in Budapest if we are invited. Although, to be honest, this is not the best place given the historical and political circumstances,» Zelenskyy said.

Trump sees Hungary as a mediator

President of the United States Donald Trump previously stated that Hungary can play a constructive role in trying to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In his opinion, the prime minister Viktor Orban has «enough political weight to help find a compromise», and that is why Budapest is seen as a possible venue for negotiations.

The diplomatic pause continues

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry notes that so far no official invitations to the meeting was not received.
However, Kyiv emphasises that Ukraine is open to diplomatic efforts, if they do not provide for no territorial concessions or violation of sovereignty.
