Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the threat of attacks on Kyiv thermal power plants and a shortage of Patriot missiles
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia was attacking Kyiv's thermal power plants - CHP-6, CHP-5 and CHP-4 - and warned of possible power outages in the event of a shortage of missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
The risk of attacks on CHP plants
According to the President, key thermal generation facilities in the capital are under threat of attack. He stressed that attacks on the power grid could result in power cuts.
Zelensky stressed that the protection of such facilities directly depends on the availability of ammunition for air defence systems.
Supply and financing
President says missiles for anti-aircraft systems Patriot are not provided to Ukraine free of charge by the United States, and the financing of supplies is carried out with the participation of European partners.
According to him, one of the funding tranches was not paid on time, which is why the missiles were not delivered as planned.
Protecting energy infrastructure
Ukraine's energy infrastructure remains one of the main targets of Russian attacks during the cold season. Air defence forces play a key role in protecting large cities and critical generation facilities.
Official energy services and the military are urging citizens to rely on messages from system operators and local authorities regarding possible power supply restrictions.
