Zelenskyy declares readiness to refrain from strikes on Russia for peace
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his address that Ukraine is ready to refrain from strikes on Russian territory, but the key question is the intentions of the Russian side itself.
According to the head of state, Kyiv is not interested in continuing the war and is acting solely to protect its independence and sovereignty.
«We do not need war»
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine acts in a mirror image in response to the enemy's actions.
«We do not need a war. And we always act in a mirror image: we defend our state, our independence. We are also ready to move quickly towards a decent agreement to end the war. The only question is what the Russians want.».
The context of the negotiations
The statement was made against the backdrop of intensified international diplomatic contacts on the possible cessation of hostilities and the search for a peace formula.
Ukraine emphasises the need for a fair agreement that guarantees the security of the state and the restoration of its territorial integrity.
