Schoolgirl convicted in Zhytomyr for murdering boyfriend out of jealousy
According to court materials, the girl invited the boyfriend to the apartment where she previously lived and prepared a kitchen knife. The couple drank alcohol and then rested on the bed.
At some point, the girl pulled out a hidden knife and inflicted fatal wounds on the boy. After the incident, she reported the incident to the police and the victim's relatives.
He died as a result of multiple stab wounds that were life-threatening.
Position of the accused in court
During the trial, the accused fully admitted her guilt and did not deny the circumstances established by the investigation. She exercised her right not to give detailed testimony under the Constitution of Ukraine and expressed remorse for her actions.
The court concluded that the defendant's guilt was proved by adequate and admissible evidence.
Sentence and compensation to the family
By a court decision, the girl was sentenced to six years in prison.
In addition, the court ruled to recover from the defendant's family UAH 845,815 in non-pecuniary damage in favour of the victim's mother.
