CBAM threatens contracts of Ukrainian exporters

New EU rules create financial risks for Ukrainian exporters

The EU's CBAM ecomitment is already affecting the contracts of Ukrainian companies, including Centravis, which exports most of its products to Europe.

CBAM's impact on Ukrainian exports

About the company Centravis claim that the new CBAM eco-duty leads to increased financial risks for Ukrainian producers. About 70% of the company's exports go to the EU, so any changes in this market are critical.

Increased customer pressure and competition are already being felt. European partners have begun to take into account the additional costs associated with CBAM and expect some of these costs to be borne by suppliers.

Problems with emissions verification

According to Luca Di Santo, In 2026, Ukrainian producers may face difficulties in passing emissions verification. If the verification is not carried out, default values will have to be applied, which will lead to at least a twofold increase in costs.

This could have a significant impact on the export capabilities of Ukrainian companies, which are already facing an increased financial burden.

Risk of losing contracts

European customers are already estimating future costs and warning that if suppliers do not compensate for some of the costs, contracts may be cancelled. This creates additional uncertainty for Ukrainian exporters.

Centravis emphasises that without mitigation or postponement CBAM Ukrainian producers risk losing part of the European market.
