European Parliament supports loan assistance to Ukraine

The European Parliament has supported a €90 billion loan to Ukraine. This was announced by the President of the European Parliament Robert Metzol.

According to her, the funding should strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities and help ensure the smooth operation of key state institutions.

What the funds will be used for

The money is expected to be used for:

  • Ukraine's defence needs

  • support for the functioning of public services

  • financial stability during the war period

What hinders the decision

Despite the support of the European Parliament, the final decision on changes to the EU budget has not yet been made.

According to available information, the process remains blocked due to Hungary's position.

The European Union remains one of Ukraine's key donors during a full-scale war. At the same time, EU budget decisions require the approval of member states, which sometimes leads to delays.
