Chinese drones enter Russia en masse through Thailand
The supply of Chinese drones to Russia has increased dramatically through the mediation of Thailand. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing trade data and its own investigation.
Sharp growth in exports
According to the agency, in 2025, drone exports from Thailand to Russia reached approximately 125 million USD, which is 88% of total Thai UAV exports.
For comparison, in 2022, there were almost no deliveries in this area.
Analysts believe that Thailand has actually become a key transit hub for Chinese drones to enter Russia amid sanctions restrictions.
The suspicious role of intermediaries
One of the key players in the investigation is the company Skyhub Technologies. According to Bloomberg, the firm is formally registered as a car rental business and has an almost empty office in Bangkok.
Despite this, the company became the second largest importer of drones from China. The models purchased include EVO Max 4T, The Russian military considers them effective on the battlefield.
Position of the Thai authorities
The Thai government claims that such trade does not violate the law. The authorities explain that drones are classified as dual-use goods, and there are currently no special restrictions on their re-export to Russia.
Context.
Western countries have repeatedly accused Russia of using intermediary schemes to circumvent sanctions and obtain critical technologies for the war against Ukraine. Drones remain one of the key elements of modern warfare, making control over their exports a particularly sensitive international security issue.
