Shmyhal: Russia has struck at key facilities of Ukraine's power grid

During today's attack, Russian troops struck critical elements of Ukraine's energy system. This was announced by the Minister of Energy Denis Shmygal.

Network and generation damage

According to him, they came under fire:

  • substations and overhead lines 750 kV and 330 kV, The company's power plants are the backbone of the country's energy grid;

  • generation facilities, in particular Burshtyn TPP і Dobrotvirska TPP.

Such attacks are aimed at destabilising the energy supply and creating large-scale power outages.

The situation in the power system

The Prime Minister noted that the personnel of nuclear power plants were forced to unload power units for security reasons.

As of today, the following have been applied throughout Ukraine 4.5-5 queues of emergency shutdown schedules, which indicates a significant power deficit after impacts.

Context.

Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure in an attempt to weaken the economy and make life more difficult for civilians.
Nevertheless, power engineers regularly repair damaged facilities and maintain the stability of the integrated power system.
