A chairlift stopped in Lviv region: rescuers evacuated 78 people, including 39 children

Lviv region, Mount Zakhar Berkut - A chairlift with about 80 people on it stopped in an emergency at a popular ski resort.

What happened

The lift suddenly stopped during operation. People were trapped at the height in difficult weather conditions. The SES mountain rescuers immediately arrived at the scene.

Rescue operation

Within about two hours, the rescuers removed the 78 people, including 39 children.
The work involved 76 rescuers and 13 units of special equipment SES.

Status of the victims

For preliminary information, no casualties. The evacuees did not need medical assistance.

The rescue operation has been completed and the reasons for the lift's shutdown are being investigated.
