Zelensky announces the capture of a Russian involved in the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners in Kursk region
A Russian serviceman was captured by Ukrainian forces, who directly involved in the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners in the Kursk region in October last year. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a report from the head of the relevant department Oleksandra Pokladova.
«The Russian who was responsible for the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners in October last year in the Kursk region has been captured,» Zelensky said.
What offence is involved
To recap, 10 October Russian occupation forces nine members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were shot dead on the territory of the Kursk region. The killing of unarmed prisoners is a gross violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime.
Further actions
According to the President, the detained Russian serviceman is testifying. Ukraine insists on full documentation of the offence and bringing the perpetrators to justice in accordance with international law.
