Burshtyn TPP shut down due to shelling

The Burshtyn thermal power plant has been completely shut down as a result of Russian shelling. This was announced by the mayor of Burshtyn Vasyl Andriyeshin.

According to him, the plant has suffered critical damage and is now «virtually at zero», which has led to the loss of heat and water supply in the city.

When services will be restored

The city authorities expect to resume water supply within a few hours. As for heat supply, the decision will be made after the technical condition of the thermal power plant is assessed.

At the same time, according to preliminary data, Burshtyn's civilian infrastructure was not damaged.

Context.

Burshtyn TPP is one of Ukraine's key power plants and supplies electricity to about three million consumers in the western regions of the country. The shelling of energy infrastructure remains part of Russia's tactics to put pressure on Ukraine's energy system.
