The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has officially introduced a new design of diplomatic number plates for cars. The olive colour replaced black and became a symbol of peace, diplomacy and resilience. The first number plate 001, formerly owned by Russia, was transferred to the European Union.
Olive diplomatic number plates: a new look
Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said that as of today, diplomatic car number plates in Ukraine are changing their appearance. Instead of the usual black plates, olive ones will now be used. According to Sibiga, this decision underlines Ukraine's commitment to peace, diplomacy and national resilience.
Transfer of the EU 001 number: a symbolic step
The licence plate 001, which was previously assigned to the Russian Embassy, was officially transferred to the European Union Delegation. This was another confirmation of Ukraine's course towards European integration and the support of its Western partners.
What olive means for diplomacy
The colour olive is globally associated with peace and diplomatic efforts. The choice of this particular shade for the new number plates is intended to emphasise Ukraine's consistency in upholding its values in the international arena.
