EU does not yet set a date for Ukraine's accession, but promises support
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Union could not give a specific date for Ukraine's accession to the EU.
At the same time, she stressed that Brussels would continue to help Kyiv on its path to full membership.
Ukraine's position
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his part, warned that Russia would try to obstruct Ukraine's European integration.
«I would not want our country and the people who are going through all these challenges to remain in the same status as they are now,» the head of state said.
Context.
Ukraine has been granted candidate status for EU membership in 2022. Further progress depends on the implementation of reforms and political consensus among EU member states.
The EU remains Ukraine's key political and financial partner during a full-scale war.
