At the same time, she warned that a comprehensive settlement of the war is still a long way off, primarily because of the complexity of the territorial issue.
«Because when international law is ignored, a situation is created that can only become more chaotic, and such a world is not in our interests,» Maloney said.
Emphasis on a «just peace»
The Italian prime minister stressed that the goal of international efforts should not just be to stop the fighting, but to achieve a just peace.
According to her, ignoring international law sets a dangerous precedent for global security and could lead to further destabilisation.
