The Netherlands will allocate additional €700 million for military support to Ukraine in early 2026
Solution details
The Government of the Netherlands has announced an additional €700 million for military support to Ukraine in early 2026. The new package will be the first tranche of an extended long-term assistance programme.
The Hague emphasises that these funds will allow to continue to supply arms, ammunition and technical support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the first months of 2026. Part of the funding is planned to come from the reallocation of the budgets of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
Context.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Netherlands has been one of the top donors of military aid to Ukraine. The country has previously supported joint programmes to purchase artillery systems, air defence systems, drones and armoured vehicles. The new tranche is seen as «stabilisation support» designed to prevent supply gaps.
