Ukraine has officially apologised to the residents of the Baltic States for the incidents of Ukrainian drones entering their territory. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Kyiv is in constant contact with its Baltic partners regarding these incidents.

Ukraine's official apology

Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhiy said that Ukraine officially apologises to the people of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for the drone incidents that took place last week. He stressed that Ukraine has never sent and could never send drones towards the Baltic states.

According to Tykhyi, Kyiv is in constant contact with its Baltic allies to investigate these cases.

Causes of the incidents and Ukraine's position

Heorhiy Tykhyi noted that the circumstances of the incidents had been under investigation for some time. The Ukrainian side concluded that the drones' deviations from their course in some cases were caused by Russian electronic warfare systems.

Tykhyi added that Ukraine and the Baltic states share the belief that the main cause of such incidents is Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Details of the incidents

Last week, during Ukraine's strikes on Russian ports near St. Petersburg, several drones landed on the territory of the Baltic States. Two drones went down in Latvia and Estonia, and another in Lithuania.

On 29 March, drones, at least one of which was Ukrainian, violated Finnish airspace in southeastern Finland. Ukraine also apologised to Finland for the incident.

Context.

The drone incidents occurred against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. The Baltic states remain allies of Ukraine and support it in countering Russian aggression.

Ukraine stresses that such cases are the result of Russia's actions and military technologies.
