Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the leadership of Qatar in Doha. The parties signed a 10-year strategic defence partnership agreement. The document envisages joint projects and the creation of co-productions.

Meeting in Doha

On 28 March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks in Doha with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, in particular in the field of defence and technology. The meeting resulted in an agreement on a long-term partnership.

Signing of a defence agreement

The Chiefs of Defence Staff of Ukraine and Qatar signed an agreement on defence cooperation for at least 10 years.

The document provides for:
- implementing joint projects in the defence industry;
- creation of joint ventures;
- technological partnership between companies from both countries.

Context.

The agreement with Qatar was part of the strategies Ukraine to expand international defence cooperation.

Qatar is strengthening cooperation with European and Asian countries in the field of defence and innovative technologies.
