Political circles talk about replacing the Speaker of the Rada

Information has emerged in political circles about a possible change of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to sources, the current speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk may be replaced by the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction« David Arahamia.

The goal is a negotiation format

According to interlocutors, this idea is being discussed in the context of possible negotiations with Russia. The Kremlin and its affiliated speakers are actively promoting the thesis of the president's alleged «illegitimacy» Vladimir Zelensky, and the statement that «negotiations should be conducted with the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada».

According to this logic, the head of the parliament allegedly has a more «status» position to negotiate, which could have been the basis for discussions about personnel changes.

Current status

There have been no official statements from the President's Office, the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada or the Servant of the People faction. There is no public confirmation of any personnel decisions being prepared.

Context.

Russia has been systematically trying to promote narratives about the «delegitimisation» of the Ukrainian government at the international level, using domestic political themes and procedural arguments. The Ukrainian side has repeatedly emphasised that all authorities act within the framework of the Constitution and martial law, and that any negotiations are possible only on the terms determined by Kyiv.
