SBU exposes Russian intelligence strike adjuster in Kramatorsk

Counter-intelligence Security Services of Ukraine detained another agent of the Russian military intelligence service GRU, who was adjusting missile and drone strikes on Kramatorsk and nearby settlements.

Details of the case

According to the investigation, the following persons were involved in directing enemy attacks 52-year-old local unemployed woman, who was recruited by the Russian special services through her friend living in Russia.

The defendant passed on to the occupiers the coordinates of city facilities where, in her opinion, the units could be located Defence Forces of Ukraine. In addition, it informed the enemy about consequences of Russian shelling, In particular, about the technical condition of the energy infrastructure affected by kamikaze drones.

How the agent acted

A woman was used to gather intelligence:

  • was going around the area in and around Kramatorsk;

  • I asked my friends for information during everyday conversations;

  • kept in touch with the current employee of the game via mobile phone.

Detention and evidence

SBU CI documented the criminal activity of the agent and detained her at her place of residence. In parallel, measures were taken to secure Ukrainian facilities in the area of enemy reconnaissance activity.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized smartphone, which was used to communicate with the curator from Russia.

Classification of the offence

SBU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion of ч. 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - high treason committed under martial law.

At present, the attacker is in custody. She is threatened with life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Context.

Russian special services continue to attempt to create agent networks in the frontline regions of Ukraine, particularly in Donetsk region, using social contacts, financial difficulties and information vulnerability of local residents.

The operation was conducted by SBU officers in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
