NASA sends Orion crew to the Moon
Today. NASA has made a historic launch: four astronauts have embarked on a 10-day mission on the Orion spacecraft. Their main task is to fly around the Moon without landing and return to Earth. The mission is designed to test all the main systems of the Orion spacecraft and ensure the safety of future human landings on the Moon's surface.
Long pause in flights
This is the first such flight in more than half a century - the last lunar mission with a crew took place more than 50 years ago. NASA emphasises that the successful completion of this mission will pave the way for a new era of lunar exploration and preparation for flights to Mars. The crew plans to fly around the Moon, conduct a number of scientific experiments and test the ship's life support in real deep space conditions.
