Law enforcers conducted the seventh stage of the operation «Guardian» and blocked about 500 schemes of service evasion on fictitious medical grounds. The operation resulted in 115 searches and 87 notices of suspicion. The schemes were conducted in most regions of the country.

Uncovering schemes to evade service

The National Police blocked almost 500 criminal schemes related to service evasion through forged or unreliable medical documents. The main scheme involved submitting fictitious health certificates to military units and military commissariats, both for themselves and for their relatives who allegedly needed constant care.

Such documents created formal grounds for obtaining a deferral from conscription or early termination of military service during martial law.

Scope of the operation and results

On 25 April, the seventh stage of the nationwide Operation «Guardian» took place, involving the Department of Strategic Investigations, the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, regional and district police departments, the Prosecutor General's Office, prosecutors' offices and internal security of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As part of this stage, the following was carried out:
- 115 searches of the residences of the persons involved
- 87 suspicions served on those involved in the cases

The inspections revealed that the “sick” men or their relatives did not go to medical institutions, did not undergo treatment or examination. Often, completely different people received care under the numbers of medical documents.

Legal qualification of actions

All the revealed facts were legally assessed. The actions of the suspects were classified as:
- draft evasion,
- unauthorised leave of absence from service,
- fraud,
- forgery of documents.
