Draft Law No. 15105 of 27 March 2026 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to restrict the use of smartphones during lessons. The new rules aim to improve learning efficiency and reduce the impact of gadgets on students.

The Verkhovna Rada has begun to consider a draft law that would restrict the use of smartphones by students during lessons. According to the initiative, smartphones can be used only when necessary and with the permission of the teacher.
Gadgets are expected to be switched off or left in designated areas during class. Exceptions are possible only for educational purposes or in cases of special need.
The purpose of the draft law on smartphone restrictions
The initiators of the changes explain that the goal is to increase students' concentration on the learning process. It is also planned to reduce the negative impact of digital devices on children's mental health.
According to the authors, such restrictions are already in place in many European countries. They believe that this will help to improve discipline and focus of students.
