Lighting of parks and squares to be restricted in Kyiv due to electricity shortage

The capital has decided to gradually limit and switch off outdoor lighting in parks and squares due to a shortage of electricity. The measure is being introduced to ensure the rational use of energy resources.

How the lighting will work

У Evening time before and after the curfew starts the following restrictions will apply:

  • LED lights operate in an energy-saving mode up to 20% capacity;

  • other types of luminaires will be partially switched on approximately 30% of the total.

During the curfew

For the period curfew lighting in parks and squares will be switched off completely.

Context.

The decision was made against the backdrop of the difficult situation in the capital's energy system, caused by massive Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. The city authorities emphasise that the restrictions are temporary and aimed at stabilising the power supply.
