Verkhovna Rada adopts law on social protection of military personnel and their families
The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a draft law on strengthening social protection for military personnel and their families. The document provides for new guarantees regarding payments, length of service and post-service support.
We are talking about comprehensive changes in the social security of the military.
What will change for the military
The law provides for guarantees during service, in particular:

payment of financial support;
-
medical care, food and clothing;
-
holidays and compensation for unused days;
-
treatment and rehabilitation;
-
Provision of accommodation;
-
free travel;
-
inclusion of service in the employment record.
After returning from service
The document also guarantees the military:

retaining the same or a higher position;
-
payment of the average salary;
-
crediting insurance and employment history;
-
the right to annual leave from the first year after returning.
Supporting families
There is a provision for military family members:

pre-emptive right to employment;
-
assistance with relocation;
-
payment of sick leave;
-
a one-time allowance in case of death or injury of a serviceman.
Payments for missing persons
The law stipulates:

monthly payments to the families of missing persons until the fact of death is established;
-
one-time assistance - up to UAH 15 million.
Additional regulations
The document also provides for the improvement of mechanisms for combating discrimination and harassment in the army.
