In Volyn, three soldiers tried to mobilise a 60-year-old local resident who was not eligible for conscription due to his age. During the incident, they broke the man's arm, used a stun gun and pepper spray. The SBI detained one of the participants in the incident.
The incident in Zabolotne
On 20 March, in the village of Zabolottya, Volyn region, three soldiers approached a local resident who was fishing near a pond. According to the SBI, they tried to mobilise the man, although he is not subject to conscription due to his age - he is 60 years old.
During the detention attempt, the TCC official and his colleagues used force. They broke the man's arm, causing a displaced fracture, and used a stun gun and pepper spray. As a result, the victim suffered burns to his eyes.
Detention and consequences
The victim sustained moderate bodily injuries and a long-term health condition. In addition to physical violence, the soldiers damaged the wheels of the fisherman's car so that he could not leave the scene.
SBI officers detained the head of a group in one of the departments of the Kovel RTC and JV. He was served a notice of suspicion, and the court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest.
Context.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing. The State Bureau of Investigation is preparing suspicions to other participants in the incident.
According to Ukrainian law, men aged 18 to 60 are subject to mobilisation, but a 60-year-old fisherman no longer falls into this category.
