Kyiv residents will have their heating bills recalculated: they will pay only for actual heat

In February, residents of the capital will receive recalculated heating bills, which will include amounts only for services actually provided in January 2026. This was reported by the utility company «Kyivteploenergo».

How the recalculation is carried out

The company is currently clarifying this:

  • how much heat each house actually received in January;

  • whether the consumption figures were in line with the established standards;

  • what volumes are subject to adjustment in the accounts.

Once the calculations are completed, this data will be taken into account in February payments.

What this means for consumers

The recalculation should ensure that Kyiv residents pay only for the heat actually received, and not for the calculated figures.

Such adjustments are usually made when:

  • deviation of temperature indicators from the norm;

  • reducing actual heat consumption;

  • technical features of heat supply systems.

Context.

The issue of tariffs and charges for utilities remains one of the key issues for Kyiv residents, especially during the heating season.

The city authorities and utility companies regularly apply a recalculation mechanism to reconcile bills with actual consumption.
