Ukraine and Bulgaria are working to launch a direct passenger train through Romania. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba. The first test flight is possible as early as the summer of 2026.

Preparing a new route

Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania are coordinating the launch of a trilateral railway connection. The parties are currently agreeing on the technical and logistical details of the new route.

According to Oleksiy Kuleba, coordination is underway between the railway operators of the three countries. The first test run is planned for the summer of 2026.

Goals of launching the railway connection

The new railway route should provide:
