SBU detains FSB agent who adjusted strikes on Kyiv CHP plants

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an FSB agent who was correcting Russian missile and ballistic strikes on thermal power plants in Kyiv. This was reported by the SBU.

According to the investigation, it is about Anastasia Basalyuk from the Rivne region. The occupiers recruited her through Telegram channels, where she was looking for so-called «easy money».


How the agent worked

After being recruited, she was sent to the Kyiv region. There, she visited local thermal power plants and recorded their technical condition after regular Russian attacks. She passed the information she collected to her FSB supervisors.

Later, the agent received new assignments:

  • Odesa region - She settled in a hotel room overlooking a Ukrzaliznytsia station to monitor the movement of trains carrying military equipment towards the front;

  • Chernihiv region - rented an apartment near a motorway and installed a hidden camera with a remote access function for the Russian special services.


Detention and punishment

SBU CI detained the offender in Chernihiv region. During the searches, the SBU seized equipment and evidence of cooperation with the FSB.

The woman is charged with high treason, She is facing a criminal charge for a crime committed under martial law. life imprisonment with confiscation of property.


Context.

Russia is systematically trying to obtain intelligence on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in order to conduct targeted attacks on thermal power plants, thermal power stations and substations. The SBU regularly reports exposing intelligence networks working for the FSB and GRU.
