The SBU exposed an agent of the Russian FSB in Khmelnytskyi. She was planning a series of car bombings of Ukrainian military vehicles. The woman was detained while conducting reconnaissance of a car park.
Detention of an FSB agent
The SBU reported the detention of a woman who worked for the Russian FSB. She was collecting information on the parking locations of Ukrainian military vehicles in Khmelnytsky.
The agent was taking photos of locations and trying to identify surveillance cameras nearby. She was detained during additional reconnaissance of one of the city's car parks.
Preparation of sabotage
According to the investigation, the data obtained by the agent was planned to be used to mine military vehicles. She also monitored reserve command posts of the Defence Forces and railway stations with military trains.
The woman was served a notice of suspicion of high treason. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Context.
Recently, the SBU has recorded an increase in attempts by Russian special services to organise sabotage on the territory of Ukraine. Particular attention is paid to defence infrastructure and military transport.
