Authorities step up checks on people liable for military service: what will change from 1 March

Control over military registration has been tightened in Ukraine since 1 March. This is not a new model of mobilisation, but a gradual transition to stricter administration, digital control and centralised verification of the grounds for deferral, Fakty reports.

What will change

According to the source, the state is consistently strengthening the discipline of military accounting. The main focus is on digitalisation of processes and data accuracy.

Citizens who are registered with the military are obliged to do so:

  • update personal data in a timely manner;

  • report changes of residence;

  • inform about changes in marital status;

  • update data on education and place of work.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in administrative liability.

No new model of mobilisation is introduced

The article notes that a fundamentally new model of mobilisation is not being introduced. It is a matter of strengthening control and streamlining accounting procedures.

The government is seeking to make the system more transparent, centralised and manageable in the face of a full-scale war against Ukraine.

Context.

Ukraine continues to digitise its military records amid the ongoing war with Russia. Tighter control should ensure that the data of those liable for military service is up-to-date and prevent abuse of deferrals.
