Ukraine has updated its traffic rules for freight transport. The changes relate to new categories of transport, weight standards and stricter control over overloading. Some of the innovations are already having an impact on the transport market.
What has changed in the traffic rules
The Cabinet of Ministers has introduced several important innovations:
- New concepts have emerged:
- container ship
- container transport
This allows separate rules to be applied to such transport.
New weight standards
Clause 22.5 of the SDA has been updated:
- 42-44 tonnes - allowed only for:
- container ships
- transport of containers or interchangeable bodies
For everyone else, standard restrictions apply:
- 40 tonnes - roads of national importance
- 24 tonnes - local roads
Why it matters
The main goal of the changes:
- remove abuses with overloading
- clearly separate the types of transport
- reduce road destruction
What drivers should consider
After the changes:
- Overweight for «ordinary» trucks - risk of fines
- the increased limits can no longer be applied without justification
- It is important to determine the right type of transport
Additionally
They also remind us:
- cars can be seized for the needs of the Armed Forces
- but only specialised equipment
- ordinary passenger cars are not covered by this
Conclusion.
The new rules make the transport market more controlled.
The benefits were left only for container transport - for others, there are clear restrictions.
