Ukraine has launched a pilot project to involve private companies in the air defence system. One of the companies in the Kharkiv region has already shot down several enemy drones. This was announced by the Minister of Defence Mikhail Fedorov.
First results of private air defence
One of the companies participating in the project, based in Kharkiv region, has trained its own air defence team. According to Mykhailo Fedorov, this group has already shot down several enemy drones, including Shahed and Zala.The Defence Minister stressed that private air defence is integrated into the national system. It is directly involved in the protection of Ukrainian skies.
Expanding the project
New fire protection teams are currently being formed at 13 other enterprises. These groups are undergoing the necessary training for further work. The project is being implemented as an experimental project with the support of the government. The goal is to create a multi-level air defence system to maximise the country's defence.
Context.
A pilot project to engage the private sector in air defence was initiated by the Ukrainian government. Private companies are being given the opportunity to create and operate their own air defence teams, which work in coordination with government agencies, to improve the effectiveness of defence against air threats and enhance the security of critical infrastructure.
