On the night of 26 March, drones attacked the Kirishinaftoorgsintez oil refinery in the Leningrad region of Russia. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 125 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the region. The plant produces petrol, diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel oil and petrochemical products.
Attack on a refinery in the Leningrad region
On the night of 26 March, drones attacked the Kirishinnefteorgsintez plant in the Leningrad region of Russia. According to local authorities, there was damage to the industrial area, with no casualties.
The company is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, producing petrol, diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel oil and other petrochemical products.
The scale of the attack and Russia's response
Russia's Ministry of Defence announced that it had shot down 125 Ukrainian drones over various regions of the country overnight. According to the governor, more than 20 drones were destroyed over the Leningrad region.
The attack continued over the Kirishi district, where the refinery is located. No significant damage or casualties were reported.
Context.
The KINEF oil refinery was already attacked on 8 March 2026, when the outer structure of the tank was damaged. On the night of 25 March, the Leningrad region also suffered a massive drone attack, which resulted in a fire in the port of Ust-Luga.
