Epstein files contain more than 38,000 references to Trump

In a new batch of so-called «Epstein files» released by the US Department of Justice, journalists The New York Times discovered more than 38 thousand mentions about the President of the United States Donald Trump in more than five thousand documents. This is stated in the publication's investigation.

What the documents contain

According to the NYT, the majority of mentions are:

  • news publications;

  • public documents;

  • materials received by e-mail Jeffrey Epstein.

No direct correspondence or direct communication between Trump and Epstein was found in the files.

Testimonies of victims

At the same time, the materials contain testimonies from Epstein's victims. Some of them mention contacts with Donald Trump, but these allegations are not supported by evidence of the US president's direct involvement in the financier's crimes.

У US Department of Justice stated that the published materials do not give grounds for to open or reopen an investigation into Trump.

The US President himself denies any wrongdoing or illegal actions related to Epstein.

Jeffrey Epstein, accused of creating a network of sexual exploitation of minors, died in prison in 2019. His case remains one of the most high-profile in the United States, and the publication of new materials regularly causes a public and political outcry.
