Iran to buy €500 million worth of Verba air defence systems from Russia
Iran has entered into a secret deal with Russia worth approximately €500 million to purchase Verba portable air defence systems. This was reported by Financial Times.
Details of the deal
According to the newspaper, the contract provides for the supply of 500 MANPADS and about 2,500 missiles for them. The documents were signed in December by representatives of Rosoboronexport, the Russian Ministry of Defence and Iranian military structures.
Deliveries are planned to be made in three stages in the period 2027-2029.

The Financial Times also reports that Iran has already received at least six Mi-28E attack helicopters in January 2026.
Besides, Tehran plans to buy two squadrons of Su-35S fighters from Russia.

The deepening of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran is taking place against the backdrop of rising tensions in the Middle East and the West's increasing sanctions pressure on both countries.
