Despite negotiations, Russia does not give up on war - Medvedev's statement

The war against Ukraine continues, and Russia's strategic goals remain unchanged. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the prospects of the negotiations.

«The war against Ukraine continues. Negotiations are good, but our goals will be achieved,» he said.

Details of the application

Medvedev actually confirmed that the Kremlin does not see the diplomatic process as an alternative to military action, but only as one of the possible tools.

The rhetoric of the Russian authorities remains unchanged:

  • Moscow insists on achieving the «tasks set»;

  • The issue of territories and security is presented as a strategic priority;

  • The war is positioned as a long-term confrontation.

These statements were made against the backdrop of active international discussions on possible formats for negotiations and diplomatic initiatives.

Context.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Russia has repeatedly declared its readiness for negotiations, while continuing hostilities.

Ukraine insists that any negotiations are possible only on condition:

  • restoration of territorial integrity;

  • security guarantees;

  • responsibility for war crimes.

Ukraine's international partners, including the EU and NATO, continue to provide military and financial support to Kyiv, while tightening sanctions against Russia.

Medvedev's statements once again demonstrate that the Kremlin is not abandoning its military goals, despite diplomatic signals and global pressure.
