A new eruption of Kilauea volcano has begun in Hawaii
Lava fountains reached 450 metres - emissions can last for months
Volcano Kilauea in Hawaii has erupted again - this is the second eruption since December 2014, according to Hawaii News.
According to the US Geological Survey, lava fountains rise to a height of 450 metres, producing powerful plumes of smoke and steam visible for tens of kilometres.
Emissions may continue from several days to several months, depending on magma pressure and crater activity. For comparison, during a large eruption in 2018 Kilauea destroyed more than 700 houses, and lava flows covered an area of more than 35 km².
Local authorities urged residents to stay away from the crater area and advised tourists to follow official reports. Currently, flights in the vicinity of the volcano are restricted.
