Come back home: Kyiv CCC offers new algorithm of service to servicemen from the Western Ukraine
The Kyiv Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support called on servicemen who had left their units without permission and were abroad to return to Ukraine and resume their service under a simplified procedure.
The Kyiv TCC stated that for servicemen who are in the status of AWOL and have not returned to Ukraine, there is a clear mechanism for resuming service without automatic detention or fines.
Details of the case
According to the TCC, upon returning to Ukraine, the serviceman has to report to the border guards. Then he is transferred to the nearest unit of the Military Law Enforcement Service.
After that, the fighter was transferred to a reserve battalion, where he was
withdraw the status of SPV;
are offered a new position;
are actually reinstated in service.
The TCC emphasises that the procedure applies even in cases where criminal proceedings have been opened against a military officer.
It is also noted that Ukrainian consulates abroad can only help with organisational issues of returning to Ukraine.
Context.
The problem of unauthorised absence from units remains a sensitive issue for Ukraine's defence sector amid the ongoing war. The authorities and military commanders periodically look for mechanisms to return servicemen to duty and to man units.
The proposed algorithm is designed to simplify the return procedure and reduce barriers for those who are ready to resume service.
